Before our recent trip down to Sanibel, I reached out to one of our favorite spots, Bleu Rendez-Vous, to see if they would be interested in a photo shoot together. Mari and Chef Christian Vivet, the lovely duo behind the restaurant, were incredibly friendly and before I knew it, I had booked a photo shoot in Sanibel.
Bleu Rendez-Vous is located in the heart of Sanibel. It’s the island’s only french bistro, which makes it unique right off the bat. When you walk in, the room is open with tables along the right hand wall and additional tables comfortably placed throughout the rest of the room. Although the space is open, it feels intimate, cozy and romantic. To the left is a long bar that faces Chef Christian’s large, open kitchen where you can watch him embrace his Parisian roots and training. This happens to be our favorite spot to sit because you are right in the heart of the restaurant. Being able to watch the magic unfold is not only an inspiration to both Mike and me, it makes it incredibly hard to choose what to order. Everything looks and smells amazing.
The menu offers a wide range of tempting french-inspired options. Chef Christian had me shoot some of their most popular dishes, including the Canard a l’Orange (Half Pekin Duckling) and the Profiteroles au Chocolat. Mike and I also love the Escargot, Grilled Quail and the Marrow Bone Canoes. My mouth is watering as I write this post.
If you ever find yourself on or nearby Sanibel Island, please check out this beautiful bistro. I feel like it has something for everyone, which can be a challenge for a restaurant. It seems to come naturally to Mari and Chef Christian, though. They are two of the most friendly people I’ve met. Their charm and love for what they do shines throughout the entire experience. Sanibel is lucky to have them.
