CULTIVATE BREWING IN BERRIEN SPRINGS, MI

Mike and I love to escape to Union Pier, Michigan. It’s only an hour from Chicago, but it feels much further away with the beaches of Lake Michigan and several nearby towns offering a wide variety of restaurants, cafes, breweries and wineries. Our good friends, Dan and Mike have a cute cottage near the beach and whenever we get a chance to get away with them, we jump at the opportunity. In April, they introduced us to a new craft brewery called, Cultivate Brewing Company.

Location

Cultivate is located in Berrien Springs, Michigan. It has a beautiful tap room with over ten tasty beers on tap. There’s indoor seating with large garage doors that open to covered seating outside. The space is open and welcoming. You can take a walk and explore their hop fields or just sit outside and enjoy the view of the hops and barley plot.

The Beer

I enjoyed the Wink which is their Raspberry Wheat beer – it was light-bodied and refreshing. We’ve also tried the NavigateStriveSmile and Pursue. There’s a variety of light vs. dark and hoppy vs. less hoppy. Take a look at their current menu here. They even have a new beer called Twist that makes its debut very soon… just in time to celebrate their one year anniversary.

Although they don’t have a full food menu, they frequently have food trucks visit. You can even bring your own food, if you’d like. It’s a very laid-back and casual atmosphere for everyone, whether you’re on a date, out with friends or with your family, kids and dogs. Everyone is welcome.

I highly recommend visiting this brewery if you escape to Pure Michigan anytime soon. But beware, it’s one of those spots that makes it a difficult to return to the city.
